Live, full-color, printed on the spot

DTF printing at your event, pressed while guests watch

Direct-to-film printing brings photographic, no-color-limit artwork to a live station — no screens, no minimums, no waiting on a print shop. We run the whole line at your event and hand back a finished garment in minutes.

Merch Troop runs live DTF stations across Orange County, LA, San Diego, Las Vegas, and nationwide.

What makes it DTF

Why events are switching to DTF

DTF stands for direct-to-film: your artwork is printed in full CMYK plus a white underbase onto a clear film, powdered with adhesive, cured, and then heat-pressed onto the garment. Because the color lives on a printed film instead of a stack of screens, there is no per-color setup, no screen burning, and no color count that blows up the price. A four-color gradient logo costs the same to press as a one-color mark.

No limits

Full color, every time

Photographs, gradients, sponsor logos with fine text — DTF handles all of it at once. Guests can pick from a menu of designs without you paying per color.

Fast line

Seconds under the press

A cured transfer presses in roughly 10–15 seconds. The real throughput lever is the queue, art menu, and staffing — which is exactly what we plan around your guest count.

Durable

Washes like a pro print

A properly cured DTF transfer stays soft, stretches with the fabric, and survives dozens of wash cycles — so the shirt someone takes home actually gets worn.

The station flow

How a live DTF station runs

1

Guest picks

They choose a garment and a design from a clear menu. Pre-printed transfers or print-on-demand — we plan which based on your crowd size.

2

Align & load

The operator lines the film up on the garment. Guests stay on the safe side of the table; the crew handles the heat.

3

Press & peel

Heat and pressure bond the ink in seconds, then the film peels away leaving a vivid, embedded print.

4

Cool & hand off

The piece hits a cool rack for a beat, gets a quick quality check, and goes home with your guest — warm and wearable.

On the table

What we print at events

Event tees & hoodies

Bella+Canvas 3001 for a soft retail feel or Gildan when budget and volume rule. DTF sits on ringspun cotton, blends, and fleece alike.

Jerseys, names & numbers

Roster names and numbers for leagues and tournaments, sponsor blocks, and personalized call-outs pressed on demand.

Caps & patch hats

Richardson 112 truckers and Flexfit crowns take a small DTF transfer or a pressed patch for a clean branded lid.

Totes & staff apparel

Canvas totes, aprons, and staff shirts round out the giveaway so your team looks as branded as the crowd.

Quick answers

Common DTF-at-events questions

Is DTF better than screen printing for events?

For most activations, yes. DTF prints unlimited colors with zero screen setup, so it is faster to switch designs and cheaper on short runs. Screen printing still wins on very large single-design orders. We break the two down on our DTF vs. screen printing page.

How many shirts can a DTF station do per hour?

Throughput depends on your art menu, garment mix, and how many operators we staff — not the press alone. We size the station to your guest count so the line keeps moving. See how fast DTF runs at events.

Where does Merch Troop bring DTF stations?

We are based in Orange County and regularly run events across Los Angeles, San Diego, and Las Vegas, plus nationwide programs with enough lead time. See locations.
